we just got a girl labra-doodle puppy. she is 14 weeks old. last night i took joy to her first obedience class. my question is has anyone here ever taken a dog to a regular class with sighted participants? if so, what are or do you have any thoughts as to things i need to do make it a worthwhile and meaningful experience. the teacher was perfectly comfortable with a blind student. i'm just a little nervous i guess.

Hi, how is the class going? A labra-doodle puppy, she must be adorable!

I've attended 2 dog training classes now with sighted folks. My partner is sighted, but I found the experience frustrating from time to time. We had a great instructor though. She would email the handouts to me, so I could review what needed to be practiced throughout the week.

How many students are in your class? Our first class was medium sized; around 6 or 7. The agility class last summer had only 3 people that consistently shoed up. That one was way more fun!

*Grin,* I get stage fright though. I'm much more comfortable practicing at home, instead of trying something out in front of the class.

About ten years ago, I took one of our Dobermans through obedience class. Our class was really big; I think it had between 15 and 20 members. Luckily, the instructor had the patience of a saint and spent some extra time working with me; otherwise, we wouldn't have passed!
